INSTRUMENTATION

KANE GeoTech, Inc. and Dr. Kane have been designing, building, installing, and monitoring geotechnical instrumentation systems since 1994. These include complete Automated Data Acquisition Systems for slopes capable of recording ground water levels, rates and directions of ground movement, locations of failure surfaces, rainfall quantities, and soil moisture. We offer a complete range of services that cover the full lifecycle of an instrumentation project, from initial requirements analysis and design through implementation and monitoring. We use only quality instruments from reputable manufacturers that are compatible with the Campbell Scientific CR10 and CR1000 dataloggers.

Automated Data Acquisition Systems

Since 1994 KANE GeoTech, Inc. has been at the forefront of remote monitoring stations and geotechnical instrumentation. This experience allows KANE GeoTech, Inc. to design Automated Data Acquisition Systems (ADAS) combining geotechnical principles with expertise in remote sensing, electronics, and instrumentation. The company has installed ADAS for the purpose of monitoring landslides, rockfall, structure subsidence, levee stability, and performance monitoring of highway bridge abutment and MSE wall construction. The systems can include alerts and alert actions. Examples are physical auditory or visual alarms and custom text and email messages tailored to specific measurements. Data can be collected manually or set up to collect at a scheduled interval (minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, etc.) and previewed locally or in a secure web browser environment.

TDR Specialists

KANE GeoTech, Inc. is one of the few firms in the world with expertise in Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) for landslide monitoring. In fact, Dr. Kane was instrumental in developing the technology for commercial applications to landslides and slope failures. TDR hardware and software are available from the company.

Instrumentation Alert Systems

KANE GeoTech, Inc. also specializes in the design and development of instrumentation systems that can automatically detect alert conditions and issue immediate warnings and notifications. When an alert condition is detected, the system will initiate actions such as turning on an audio/visual alarm or notifying individuals with a prerecorded voicemail, text or email message.
